Currently, this has been my artistic practice.

I have a very odd relationship with painting.

I spent almost the majority of my Senior

Year at Parsons School of Design

developing a business plan and realized that

I did not create really any art in my final year

at school. I created an experimental film that

explores the notions of light, color, sound,

and tempo. After developing this body of

work. I found my process similar to the likes

of Stan Brakhage. What was one paint

became 10,000 resulting in gradients of

color, shapes, and light I could have never

foreseen.

Mylar Paper, Paint, LED, 16mm Bolex,

Movement

I took some mylar paper and painted it over it.

After the painting was finished, I hung it up and

back-lit it with a high voltage LED light so that

the negative spaces and white dots from the

brush strokes would be illuminated. From there

I took a 16mm Bolex camera and proceeded to

shake the camera in front of the painting while

taking individual stills. All of the brush strokes

and textures within the painting were put into

motion after the film was alternatively processed.

I wonder where this project can go I think

working with a sound engineer/designer and

further learning how to control the creation

of visual assets would be the next step. The

stills from this series of work will be printed in

large format and will be used in other graphic

and fine art print applications.
